Can I split by page range rather than every page?

Custom page-range splitting is coming in a future update. Currently, the tool extracts every page into its own PDF. To keep only certain pages, use our Extract Pages tool instead.

Are my files private?

Yes. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server, so it remains completely private.

What is the maximum PDF size I can split?

There is no fixed size limit. Splitting happens entirely in your browser, so you can split very large PDFs — hundreds of megabytes or more. The only practical limit is your device's available memory, so extremely large documents may take longer on lower-spec devices.

How are the output files named?

Each file is named with the original filename and the page number, for example: document-page-1.pdf, document-page-2.pdf, and so on.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

No. You must unlock the PDF first using our Unlock PDF tool, then split the unlocked version.

Will splitting reduce the quality of the pages?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are from the original document. There is no re-compression or rendering involved.

What if I only need a few specific pages?

Use our Extract Pages tool instead — it lets you tick exactly which pages you want and creates a single new PDF from your selection.
